To paint or not to paint? We are still contemplating on the paint colors for our main floor.

When we first moved in, it was a big undertaking to fix the cracks in the plaster ourselves before painting the entire walls in the main floor one color. We had the rest of the house to tackle 😅. Many years later, we added the mantel + slowly upgraded our furniture. Then most recently updated to a gas fireplace. Swipe to see a before from a few years ago.

Changes, little by little and an encouragement for those who are just beginning with a fixer upper. Don’t let the fast pace of others discourage you from your progress.

It’s been years since we walked by this home but these hydrangeas + the white fence never gets old for #myhousecrushmonday. What is your favorite planting in your yard? Ours would be the hydrangeas and Miss Kim lilac trees. Excited to see them bloom.

We are heading to Charleston soon and although, there’s still snow here, it has me dreaming about warmer spring days.

Second time’s the charm! Our drapes now look luxuriously full + the length makes it fuss free with the drawers. The perfect solution of style and function for our room.

Ask any questions you have and I’ll answer in a blog post. Here are a few tips so you can save and refer back later:

1. If you’re unsure of the length, it’s easier to go longer bc you can always hem them vs the other way around.
2. From experience, while I love this look, drapes that puddle or barely kiss the floor will collect more dirt and you will fuss with them if you open & close often (in our case with drawers)
3. Even if you don’t plan to close your curtains, still consider a fuller look.
4. Install rods that don’t have the annoying extension break.

Can you guess the two details that I missed with this drapery install? The quality of these custom curtains are so beautiful but two things that I didn’t check closely and hope you can learn from my mistake:

1. The width. We won’t close the curtains over the radiators so they’re more for style vs. function. This was misinterpreted by my drapery company to lessen the width and save on cost. I didn’t check the order measurements so the drapes didn’t have that luxurious full look which IMO is ideal.

2. The length. Love the puddled look. But since we’re opening and closing our drawers multiple times a day, this meant we were constantly fussing with them. The “just barely off the floor” length is best here. This also applies if you plan to open and close your drapes daily. Unless you don’t mind that.

We reused these to make our bathroom cafe curtains. Stay tuned for the revision! Also, that was Jack’s idea to jump out 🤭.
