We’re in the process of making over our living room but that didn’t stop me from updating it for the fall season using what we have. As the temps start to drastically drop, I want our living room to feel cozy but not in your face screaming FALL YA’LL. Take a look at how I did a simple update.
make it cozy
Pull out those blankets. The chunkier, the better like this knitted one. It’s my fav and handmade with merino wool and feels buttery soft. I’ve been really loving the blush/rose color this season.
set the mood
Twinkle lights and candlesticks can change your mindset about it getting darker earlier. I saw lots of photos on Pinterest with twinkle lights before I finally decided to add some in our home. And guess what? It makes the space feel so cozy and the kids love it! I wrapped mine around the blanket ladder but have seen them hung around windows, on mantles, etc. Amber glass also helps to set the mood and I incorporate this through vases and votive holders for simple styling.
One thing that I’d like to add is a velvet accent pillow. These ones from Mulan Designs by Ellen on Etsy are stunning! I’ll probably order the mauve or gold color.
This living room will look different in a few months but in the meantime, we are enjoying what we have. For those not familiar, almost all of our furniture are from Brian’s bachelor days. They are very nice quality but it’s time for us to update our furniture that fits us BOTH. If you’re excited to do a little refresh for fall, here are six must-haves to cozy up your room.
